Jersey City council hears pitch for reusable shopping bag program

A company using Jersey City as the first laboratory for a program to increase the use of reusable shopping bags made a presentation to the Jersey City City Council appealing for its support and said already an A&P and two Pathmark stores have come aboard.

Through the program, shoppers can download a free app from the company, My Eco, and rack up points each time they check out at a participating store. The points will have a monetary value which can be donated the schools or non-profits of the shopper choosing.
